F3D – Recognizing Impairments caused by Psychoactive Substances

  • Mobile detection system for fatigue and substance-related impairments to driving ability
  • Measurement time for fatigue: 6 minutes
  • Measurement time for influence of drugs or medication: 1 minute

Description

The F3D is a mobile, glasses-based pupil measurement system for detecting the influence of psychoactive drugs or medications.

The device can also be used to detect fatigue in drivers.

A video camera with infrared lighting integrated into the glasses observes and digitizes the pupil of the test subject. The position and diameter of the pupil are continuously determined. The pupil light reflex (PLR) of a driver is evaluated to objectively assess their capacity to drive. With the help of the F3D Cockpit software, a short flash of light is applied, which leads to a measurable pupil reaction. The reactivity of the pupil is a measure of a driver’s alertness.
