The position and diameter of the pupil are continuously determined. Spontaneous fluctuations in pupil diameter (pupillary unrest) are evaluated to objectively assess the sleepiness of a test subject. Using the F3D Cockpit software, the Pupillary Unrest Index (PUI\u00ae) is determined as a function of time and, derived from this, the overall mean value over the measurement period. The overall mean value is compared with standard values. In addition, the MRS\u00ae parameter \u2013 monotony resistance status \u2013 can be determined.
